MSN is a consumer portal and ISP service owned by Microsoft. Like Yahoo! and Lycos, MSN provides a variety of content and services, including email, personalized Web pages from "My MSN", shopping and Yellow Page listings. MSN's primary search results (those that are editorially reviewed) currently come from LookSmart. The MSN - LookSmart contract has not been renewed, and LookSmart listings will be removed from MSN's search results on January, 15 2004. Secondary fall through results are provided by Inktomi. Sponsored listings are provided by Overture.
Microsoft is currently working on its own search technology to compete with Google and Yahoo! in the Web search market place.
Microsoft was started by Bill Gates and Paul Allen.
